Ongoing Initiatives

Active Hour is dedicated to building a healthier, more connected community through recurring initiatives. From fitness classes to local school outreach, explore our core program types designed for lasting impact.

Elementary School Visits

When we visit elementary schools, we present the Active Hour Campaign, which encourages students to engage in at least one hour of physical activity each day. We provide every student with an activity log that they have signed by a parent after completing an hour of exercise. The first class in each grade to have every student complete and return their logs of 21 days earns a reward chosen by the school, such as extra recess or another incentive.

Weekly Local Workshops

We host weekly running workshops at our local middle school track for kids aged 5-10 where we teach basic stretches, followed by fun running games that build confidence and develop fundamental movement skills. As the program progresses, participants work toward completing laps around the track. Through these workshops, we encourage children to spend more time outdoors while developing lifelong habits of physical activity in a fun, supportive environment.

Community Outreach

We engage in a variety of community outreach initiatives to promote our mission. For example, we recently published a children's book that highlights the importance of outdoor play and reducing screen time. In addition, our founders speak at community events and conferences, including the Rotary Club of Frisco and the Key Club International Convention, to inspire others to prioritize physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
